The broader ethos of the School resides in the enduring values expressed in the 1560 Charter of Westminster's Elizabethan foundation. On its re-foundation by Elizabeth I, Westminster was described as a school for '40 poor scholars'. That charitable basis to education has been reflected throughout the School's history, and continues on today through the generosity of our many supporters.
Thanks largely to the invaluable help and hard work of parent and alumni volunteers, last year’s Fund for Westminster surpassed ourwildest expectations. As we prepare to celebrate the School's 450th Anniversary, we have taken on the ambitious challenge of raising £450,000 over the next 12 months to mark this historic occasion. We can think of no better way to honour over four centuries of dedication to scholarship, and know that with your help we can achieve our goal. |
